Summer Reading Program
Who: Ages 2 to Senior in High School
Sign up starts June 1, 2024 and will run through August 31, 2024.
Come to the Library to fill out your registration slip and get your reading log!

***We challenge you to discover that “Adventure Begins at Your Library”
 this summer!! Together, we can share adventures together! Read 2 hours each week, mark or color the pictures on your log for that week, Color or circle each picture for every half-hour that you read!  Read whatever is interesting to you! CHALLENGE YOURSELF!  Read each week toward completing your Reading Challenge!  ALSO, YOU CAN CHECK OUT A STEM KIT WHICH CAN COUNT TOWARDS ONE HOUR OF READING! Beginning readers can have a parent or big brother or sister read to them! We want you to enjoy reading all summer!
At the end of summer, you can bring in your completed reading log by
Aug. 31, 2024 to earn a reading certificate, a book bag with goodies, and $10.00 gift
certificate to purchase your own books!

SPECIAL SUMMER HIGHLIGHTS—FREE FAMILY PROGRAMS:
June 22, 2024, 1:00M: Digging the Past: Exploring Archaeology! Take an exciting journey through the fascinating world of
Native American artifacts and archaeology! Through hands-on activities, interactive lessons, and engaging discussions, we will
embark on an adventure to discover the rich history and culture of the Indigenous peoples of Northern Michigan. The program will be at the
Thompsonville Fire Hall and Community Center Park Pavilion at 14714 Lincoln St., Thompsonville, MI 49683. This program is brought to you by Matt Varnum, Steven Veatch, and the Benzie Area Historical Museum.

July 20, 2024, 11AM: Nature Discovery: Michigan Amphibians! Jim and Carol McGrath return to teach us about Michigan frogs,
salamanders, and toads. We will become familiar with the biology, range, and habitat of each species! They will have live specimens for you to
observe! The program will be at the Thompsonville Fire Hall and Community Center Park Pavilion at 14714 Lincoln St., Thompsonville, MI 49683.

Aug. 22, 2024, 12PM, Dinosaur Adventure at Your Library with PaleoJoe! Join PaleoJoe as he teaches about animals, plants, and
creatures that have been extinct for millions of years. Learn what fossils are and how they are formed-you’ll become a Dinosaur Detective!
The program will be at the Thompsonville Fire Hall and Community Center Park Pavilion at 14714 Lincoln St., Thompsonville, MI 49683.

August 24, 2024: 11AM, Raptors! Program presented by Skegemog Raptor Center! Come and see the magnificent Raptor Ambassadors and learn about these amazing birds as well our awareness about the wildlife, ecology, and environmental issues as they relate to them. The program will be at the Thompsonville Fire Hall and Community Center Park Pavilion at 14714 Lincoln St., Thompsonville, MI 49683.

*** Our “Adventure Begins at Your Library” Story and Activity Hour with Marvin T. Moose and your Lovable Librarians will run June 19, 2024 to August 14, 2024, Wednesdays, 11AM to 12PM. We will have Story Hour every week, where you can enjoy stories, crafts and a snack!  Remember you can still see our past  story hours on Facebook and on the Library’s YouTube channel!
***Read with Skye and Friends! These super-duper friends will be visiting the Library on every 3rd Wednesday from 12Noon to 1PM in June, July, and August 2024! Come and read a favorite book from home or pick one out at the Library to read to them! They would love to see you!
